Mike Miller McDaniel, President
Mr. McDaniel is one of the founders of Saber Power Services, LLC. Mike graduated from MSU in 1979 with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. He serves his alma mater on the Advisory Board of the Mechanical Engineering Department and the MSU Foundation Board. In 1989, Mike left Dow Chemical and bought Electrical Controller Products, which was a specialty electrical distributor. In 1990, he started a service company called ECP Tech Services. By 2008, ECP Tech had grown to be the largest independent high voltage testing company in the South. He sold it that year to Schneider Electric, a $27.3 billion French electric firm. In addition to Saber Power Services, Mike is the CEO of M3 Resources, and Chairman of Everest Funeral Services.
Bruce Cranfill, Executive VP of Construction
Mr. Bruce Cranfill has served as Executive VP of Construction for Saber Power since 2012 and General Manager for ECP Tech Services / Square D until 2011. Past entitlements involve experience as Construction General Manager for Emerson Electric and Estimator / Project Superintendent for new construction and project estimating for UEI Inc. Aside from Bruce’s work history, his education includes a General Studies Degree at Pikes Peak Community College, Associates of Applied Science Degree in Commercial and Industrial Electrical Applications at Brazosport College and a Construction Management Degree from the Universitiy of Houston. Lastly, Mr. Cranfill possesses a Master Electrical License in Austin, Dallas, Houston, Clute, Freeport, and Lake Jackson, Texas.
Don Jackson, VP of Sales & Operations
Mr. Don Jackson has an extensive background in HV Electrical Systems with a career spanning over 40 years. Don attended apprentice school for 4 years (IBEW)
and attained an Associate’s Degree in Electrical Construction Technology from the College of Mainland. Through continuing education,
he also obtained numerous PLC/DCS certificates. In a career starting with PLC/DCS programming and then over a decade in High Voltage,
Don moved into sales in 1998. Previous roles include Director of Marketing & Sales for ECP Tech Services from 1998 - 2008, Regional Sales Manager for
Schneider Electric between 2008-10, and Sales Manager for Coastal Switchgear for two years. Don joined Saber in 2011 and is responsible for the company's
Sales & Field Testing Operations, servicing industrial & commercial customers, pipeline, petro-chemical plants, refineries, and others.
Brian P. Smaistrla, Executive Vice President
Mr. Brian P. Smaistrla joined Saber Power Services, LLC. in May of 2018, and serves as Executive Vice President responsible for the growth,
leadership and strategic planning of the business. Innovative, delivery and growth focused, Brian is a proven executive leader in both
private and public company environments with over twenty-eight years' operational experience designing, constructing, and
commissioning large (EPC) 15-765kV electrical systems for the power, electric, and energy industry in North America. Brian is a proven P&L revenue
producer encompassing the leadership of large, multiple divisional workforces and has been responsible for annual $500M+ project pipelines and backlogs.
Brian's career has included many leadership positions including President and Executive Vice President of multiple companies,
with multi-faceted operational project and business development experience. Brian obtained a BS degree in Electrical Engineering from Texas A and M University
and an MBA from The University of Houston - Clear Lake.
Raul Peña, Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Raul Peña joined Saber in October 2010 and is responsible for the company's finances including planning, budgets, cash, controls,
processes, reporting & audits. In addition, Raul leads our legal, risk management, and information systems. He designed and built many
of the systems the company operates under including our Line of Business (LOB) applications for quotations, field scheduling, and job costing.
Raul holds a Master of Business Administration from Rice University, a Master of Science in Management of Information Systems from UH-Clear Lake,
and a Bachelor of Business Administration from UH-Downtown. Prior to Saber, Raul rose to senior management through 13 years at a local manufacturer
serving in various roles including finance, information technology and sales.
George McDaniel, Chairman
Mr. George McDaniel has been Chairman of Electrical Controller Products since 1988. Additionally, since 1992 he served as Chairman of ECP Tech Services, a leading independent electrical testing and repair firm on the Gulf Coast. ECP Tech Services was sold to Square D Company in April, 2008, and provided electrical power system solutions to customers in various industries; these included petrochemical, industrial, and electrical utility. He also served as an independent director of Integrated Electrical Services, Inc., a NYSE company. Prior to these positions, Mr. McDaniel worked for Arthur Anderson in the international taxation, mergers and acquisitions, and dealt with clients in the offshore drilling, manufacturing, and oilfield service industries. He currently holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from the University of Kentucky, a law degree from the University of Mississippi, and is a licensed attorney in both Texas and Mississippi.
Phil Collins, Principal
Mr. Phil Collins served as President of Saber Power Services from 2010 until January of 2015. Additionally, Phil served as President of ECP Tech Services from 2003 until it was sold to Square D Company in 2008. Previous work experiences include, but are not limited to, Sales Engineer at Square D, Sr. Sales Engineer and Area Manager at Siemens Energy and Automation, Vice President Field Sales and Strategic Marketing, General Manager at ABB Power T&D Company, and Head of Group Pricing Management at ABB Group Processes Ltd. In regards to his educational background, Mr. Collins possesses a BSEE with concentration in Power and Control and a MBA with concentration in Finance from the University of Houston, as well as Executive Training experience at Duke University and the University of Chicago.
Andy Grier, Principal
Mr. Andy Grier served as Executive Vice President of Saber Power Services from 2010, until his retirement in 2014, alongside his previous roles as Field Manager, Operations Manager, and Vice President of Operations for ECP Tech Services until 2008. Previous job functions consist of being a NETA certified Senior Technician, Foreman/Supervisor and Shop Personnel, Operations Manager providing assistance to Vice President of Operations, and experience at Bath Electrical Systems. Mr. Grier also has operated many types of electrical test equipment, evaluated test data received, and has over 35 years of experience in numerous aspects of the high voltage electrical testing field. Alongside his vast amount of work expertise, Mr. Grier is also a graduate of Brazosport College and the ABC Apprenticeship Program.
